Thunderridge’s Volleyball team recently won their first game against Doherty on September 3. They ended with three wins against Doherty by the end of the match. Fans decked out in their green gear to support the girls. They even threw T-shirts into the crowd!
This victory against Doherty seemed to have brought some luck for the girl since they won their next game against Rampart, two wins to one.
“I think our team has a lot of potential,” says Sarah Cavanaugh, “we’ve been getting used to playing with each other and we’ve really started bonding. Our play has really improved.”
The girls aren’t only friendly on the court. Outside of the gym, they hang out together and do team-building activities. “Last weekend, we had a team sleepover and we make tie dye shirts together, which we all wore on color day,” says Cavanaugh.
The girls continue to build their relationship both on and off the court. Even after a loss, recovery is easier for them with such strong friendship.
“If you have a strong relationship with your team, you want to play for them and win for them,” says Cavanaugh, “if your team doesn’t click well, you play for yourself.”
